Nora Butler, Newton

Nora L. Butler, 90, of Newton, died of heart failure on Nov. 25, 1994 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services were Nov. 29. 1994 at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton. The Rev. Jerry Brown of the First United Methodist Church in Newton officiated. Burial was at the Newton Union Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 17, 1904 in rural Hillsboro, Tenn. to Harvey Douglass and Urah Dissie Belle (Jernigan) Frazier. She married Perry J. Butler on Oct. 8, 1927 in Knoxville. She was a seamstress and had worked for Longs’ custom Carpets and Warehouse prior to retirement in 1980. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include one son, Keith Butler of Newton; one daughter, Dona Pope and husband John of Winterset; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Miller-Lillard Scholarship fund at Winterset.
