EUGENE O. DEAN DIED HERE LAST SATURDAY

Local Resident Past 10 Years Succumbs at Age of 72 Years

Eugene O. Dean, a resident of this community for the past 10 years, died at his home in Winterset last Saturday. He was 72 years of age.

Mr. Dean was born at Nichols, Ia., on Jan. 9, 1874, the son of Elizabeth and John Dean. He was married in 1900 to Lennie Bryce, of Washington, Ia.

He is survived by his wife; and eight children: James Dean of Monmouth, Ill., John Dean of Davenport, Francis Dean of Potosi, Mo., Howard Dean of Winterset, Mrs. Everett Rainbow of Waterloo, Mrs. Vernon Stutzman of Iowa City, Mrs. Robert Lowe of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Donald Lauer of Ft. Dodge.

He also leaves a sister, Tenna Dean of Nichols; two brothers, Tom Dean of Nichols, and Lawrence Dean of West Branch; and 17 grandchildren.

Rosary services were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home Monday evening; and funeral rites were conducted Tuesday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
