Mrs. Joe Ruth of this city received word last week of the death of her brother, Joseph and his wife of Thayer, Nebraska. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hattel have been ill for some time.
Mr. Hattel having suffered a stroke of paralysis and Mrs. Hattel seriously ill with cancer. Mrs. Hattel passed away on January 4 and Mr. Hattel two days later on January 6.
Funeral services were held for them Saturday, January 9 and they were buried in one grave.
Mr. Hattel leaves two sisters, Mrs. Ruth and Mrs. Will Houlette of St. Charles.
He was born and raised near St. Charles going to Nebraska when he was -- years of age. He was married there to Miss Lizzie Price in 1889 and they made their home near Thayer since that time. They leave six children, two boys and six girls.
