DR. ARTHUR AYRES OF LORIMOR DIES

Had Engaged in Practice of Medicine at Lorimor Since 1928

Dr. Arthur Ayres, Lorimor physician, well known through his practice among residents throughout the south part of Madison county, died June 28 at the home of his daughter, Alyce Ayers of Centerville. Following hospitalization in Des Moines, he had been at Centerville for several weeks. He was 74 years of age.

Doctor Ayres had been practicing medicine at Lorimor since 1928, coming there at that time to continue the practice of his brother, Dr. E. C. Ayres, who was retiring. He had previously practiced at Des Moines, Weldon, Peoria, and Leighton.

In Lorimor, Doctor Ayres was a community leader. He served on the school board there, and on the staff of the Greater Community hospital in Creston and the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic lodge, Eastern Star and the Lions club.

His wife, whom he married in Chicago in 1904, died two years ago. He is survived by four daughters, Alyce Ayres of Centerville, Mrs. Margaret Perry of Murfreesbow, Tex., Mrs. Dorothy Cholet of Bakersfield, Calif., and Mrs. Betty Weems of Lorimor; two brothers, Ransom Ayres of Los Angeles, Calif., and Warren Ayres of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Helen Miles of Pasadena, Calif; and three grandchildren.
