CHARLES W. YOUNG DIES IN OKLAHOMA

Left Here More Than Forty Years Ago to Pioneer in Southwest

Charles W. Young, who left Madison county to pioneer in Oklahoma over 40 years ago, died last month at his home near Marshall, Okla., at the age of 88 years, it was learned here this week.

Mr. Young was born in Madison county in 1857, the son of Charles H. and Margaret Young. As a young man he went to western Kansas, living there until 1891, when he returned to Madison county. He was married in 1878 to Orinda Kale. They were the parents of a daughter and two sons. The wife and mother died in 1897; and both of the sons preceded the father in death, Fred in 1904 and Ray in 1926. The surviving member of this union is the daughter, Mrs. Addie Harris of Marshall.

In 1899 he was married to Helen Creger. They were also the parents of three children. They moved to Oklahoma in 1903, and for 10 years made their home on a farm near Hennessey. He later moved to a farm near Marshall, in which community he passed the remainder of his life. His second wife died in 1929.

In addition to Mrs. Harris, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James Wyckoff of Firebaugh, Calif., Mrs. Raymond Sleeter of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Ed Fox of Los Gatos, Calif.; one brother, Alonzo Young of Des Moines; and two sisters, Thea Young of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Maggie Merrill of Ferris, Ill.
