Mrs. George Frey, a well known resident of the Pitzer neighborhood for many years, died Friday, Jan. 19, 1951, at the Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. She had been in failing health for several years, but her final illness was of brief duration.
Mrs. Frey was 66 years of age. She was the former Clara Eliza Jackson, daughter of James and Mary Jane Jackson, and was born in LaSalle county, Illinois, on Nov. 26, 1884. She came to Madison county in 1902, and the remainder of her life was spent here.
She was married to George Frey on Sept. 5, 1906. They were the parents of four children, Marjorie, Pauline, Russell and Richard.
Mrs. Frey was a member of the Pitzer United Presbyterian church and was active in its work. She was a leader of the Missionary society there, served as Sunday school superintendent for years, and was active in choir work.
Surviving are her husband, the four children, Marjorie Frey of Winterset, Mrs. Wayne Newton of Winterset, and Russell and Richard Frey of near Pitzer.
She also leaves a brother, T. J. Jackson of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Russell Poole of Swanington, Ind., and six grandchildren, Robert, Richard, and Keith Newton, Michael and Nickie Frey and Cathie Jo Frey. Four brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Pitzer United Presbyterian church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. William A. Muir. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
