WILL F. JACKSON Died Last Week

William F. Jackson of Winterset, well known farmer and livestock dealer in this community for many years, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 1949, at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. He had suffered a heart attack the preceding Saturday. He was 72 years of age.

Mr. Jackson had been a resident of Madison county for about 47 years. He was a native of Canada, where he was born at Pickering, in Ontario, Jan. 11, 1877, the son of James and Mary Jane Fielding Jackson. When he was a small boy he came with his parents to Utica, Ill., where his early life was spent.

As a young man he farmed for a few years in Minnesota and northern Iowa, before coming to Madison county abut 1902. He purchased the farm west of Winterset, which is still in the family, and in the ensuing years had become one of the substantial citizens of the county. He was also associated with the Winterset Sales bar for several years.

He was married Sept. 7, 1904 to Edith Pearl Fleener. They were the parents of six children, all of whom survive. They are Loran W. Jackson, Mrs. Eleanor Poland, George T. Jackson, Francis E. Jackson, Embree Jackson, and John R. Jackson, all of Winterset. The wife and mother died Feb. 19, 1917. An Uncle of Mrs. Jackson, Thomas Hircock, remained in the home and helped rear he children.

Mr. Jackson was married Sept. 2, 1933 in Morrison, Ill., to Mrs. Ferne Addy Ryan, who survives him. Since their marriage they had made their home in Winterset.

In addition to his wife, and children, he is survived by 13 grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Jackson of Chicago, James Jackson of Mobridge, S.Dak., and Thomas Jackson of Winterset; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Poole of Swanington, Ind., and Mrs. Clara Frey of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Winterset Methodist church in charge of the pastor, the Rev. G. L. Hufstader. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
