William F. Hircock, retired Lincoln township farmer who had made his home in Winterset since 1916, died at his home here last Friday, Feb. 13, 1948. He suffered a heart attack while shoveling snow from his sidewalk. He was 86 years of age.
Mr. Hircock was born in Lincoln township, Sept. 11, 1861, the son of Jacob and Louisa Dodds Hircock, who were natives of Cambridgeshire, England. He was one of a family of eight children.
He was married Nov. 10, 1886, to Mary Elizabeth Brinson. Their active life was spent in farming in Lincoln township.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Lannie R. Hircock, and a daughter, Elsie C. Hircock, both of Winterset; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother, Charles E. Hircock of near Winterset. A daughter, Clara M. Hircock, and a son, Floyd L. Hircock, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Ramsey- Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W. R. Watkins, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
