Funeral services were held here last Friday for Ralph E. Ham of rural Winterset, a longtime Madison County resident and farmer. Mr. Ham died at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset on Tuesday, May 13, 1975, at the age of 78.
Ralph Edward Ham was born in Johnson County, Iowa on November 29, 1896, the son of Thomas and Ann Arthur Ham. He had lived in Madison County since 1908. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Graves at Winterset on January 18, 1922.
A member of the Zion Federated Church, Mr. Ham was a longtime farmer in Scott township.
Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Ham of Winterset; a daughter, Mr. John (Fern) Algoe of Peru; and two sons, Donald E. and Larry Ham, both of Winterset.
Other survivors include 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Ham of Winterset and Tom Ham of Peru; and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Edwards of Mission, Kansas, Mrs. Mabel Nelson of Peru and Mrs. Blanche Livingston of Winterset.
Mr. Ham was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with John Safford officiating. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
