FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN NEW JERSEY

Mrs. Josephine Montgomery, a resident of Winterset for 24 years, died April 22 at Morristown, N.J. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Montgomery was the widow of Fred Montgomery, a rural mail carrier at Winterset for many years. She was born in Nance county, Nebraska, but she and her husband lived in Winterset from 1915 through 1939, before moving to Newark, N.J. For the last five years, she had made her home with a son, William C. Montgomery, of Chatham, N.J.

She was a member of the Chatham Township Presbyterian church there.

In addition to William C. Montgomery, she leaves six other sons, Kenneth Montgomery of Millington, N.J., Everet Montgomery of Topanga, Calif., Orville L. Montgomery of La Sierra, Calif., Herbert F. Montgomery of Pine Brook, N.J., Ernest Montgomery of Lakewood, N.J., and Paul A. Montgomery of Chatham township, N.J. She also leaves 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Jim Edmunds of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Bernice L. Martin of Santa Monica, Calif., Barry Slinker of Santa Monica, Calif., and Charles Slinker of New Kensington, Pa.

Funeral services were held April 24 from the Chatham Township Presbyterian church.
