Former Resident Dies in Arizona

Word has been received here of the death of Mrs. Martha Quinn, 53. Mrs. Quinn died of cancer at a hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona February 17th. She was a former Des Moines resident but had been residing in Scottsdale near her daughter since she became ill. Funeral services and burial were held in Scottsdale February 18th.

Mrs. Quinn was the daughter of Walter and Leta Benson Phillips and was born in Winterset. She had visited here a number of times with her aunt, Mrs. Ruth Steen.

She is survived by a son Dennis of Ft. worth, Texas and two daughters Mrs. Annette Stewer of Scottsdale and Mrs. Patti Downs of Los Angeles, California, two brothers, Marvin Phillips of Maryland and Joe Herr and six grandchildren.

Memorial service was held at the Four Square Gospel church in Des Moines last Sunday for Mrs. Quinn.

A memorial service for Mrs. Martha L. Quinn, 53, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Des Moines, will be during the regular service 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Des Moines Foursquare Gospel Church, of which she was a member.

Mrs. Quinn died of cancer Feb. 17 in a Scottsdale hospital after a short illness, and graveside services have been held there.

Born in Winterset, Mrs. Quinn lived most of her life in Des Moines, and moved to California about a year ago and to Scottsdale recently. She was a former employe of Look Magazine here.

Survivors include a son, Dennis, of Ft. Hood, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Annette Steure of Scottsdale and Mrs. Patti Downs of Los Angeles, Calif., and six grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
