KONRAD EICHNER Obituary

Konrad Eichner was born December 26th, 1853, at New Ebersbach, Bavaria. There he was baptised and later confirmed in the faith of the Evangelical Lutheran church. At the same place he was united in marriage to Miss Barbara Guettelbauer on the first day of February, 1880. This happy union was blest with eight children, seven of whom survive, one, Mrs. Katie Pritchard, having passed away in 1921.

Mr. and Mrs. Eichner emigrated to the United States in 1881, coming to Des Moines, Iowa. On September 13, 1913, death for the first time entered the home, taking away Mrs. Eichner from her husband and children. Five years later Mr. Eichner was married again, but the union proved an unhappy one and was dissolved. In 1920 Mr. Eichner was united to Luise Riehl, who proved a faithful companion and helpmate to her husband until the time of his departure.

During most of his life, Mr. Eichner was engaged in farming, living in the counties of Polk, Madison and Dallas, and later in the cities of Des Moines and Valley Junction. He passed away after a lingering illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Forret, near Valley Junction, January 3rd, 1925, aged 71 years and 7 days. The survivors are his sorrowing widow, seven children, Mrs. Sevina Stifel, John, Fred, Mrs. Anna Forret, Mrs. Laura Rehbein, Mrs. Clara Forret and Harry. There are twenty-five grandchildren, also one brother and one sister.

Mr. Eichner was a faithful member of the Lutheran church all his life, serving the Lord and leading his children to the Lord. His death as we are confidently assured, was a passing away in the Lord and he is now at rest, his soul with Jesus, his body to rest in the grave until the day of resurrection of all flesh.

Funeral servces were held by Rev. Lilie at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church in Jefferson township and the body was laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery.
