Had Been Madison County Resident Since 1926
James O. "Ted" Monroe, a resident of Madison county since 1926, died Friday, Aug. 16, at his home in Peru. He was 73 years of age.
Mr. Monroe was a native of Milo, where he was born May 20, 1890, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Monroe. He was married May 10, 1917 at Pleasantville to Ida May Bush, who survives him.
Moving to Madison county in 1926, Mr. Monroe lived in Winterset for many years. He was employed as a salesman for the Winterset Motor company and later for the Winterset Monument company.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Waudena Evans of Churdan and Mrs. Jaunette Bell of Whittier, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Ellis of Hampton.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Lloyd J. Knouf and the Rev. Les Carlson. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
