Ida Monroe, 73, a well-known resident of the Peru community, died Wednesday, September 5, 1973 at Villa West Care Center in Winterset where she had been staying for one month following her Peru residence.
Mrs. Monroe was born May 30, 1900 in Salem, Indiana, the daughter of Daniel and Martha Bush. She was married May 10, 1917 in Milo, Iowa to James Orris Monroe. Three children were born to that marriage.
Mrs. Monroe was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Winterset.
Surviving Mrs. Monroe are two daughters, Mrs. Bert Evans of Churdan, Iowa and Mrs. Jaunita Lucllle Bell of Whittier, California; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mable McNeely of Fairborn, Ohio and Lillie Bundy and Ella Sutton of Salem, Indiana.
Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1963, a daughter, Marjorie Monroe and six brothers.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 8 at 10:00 a.m. from the First Baptist Church of Winterset, the Rev. Keith Archer of Council Bluffs, Iowa officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery, Winterset.
