Long Illness Ends For JOEL B. CLARK

J. B. Clark, well-known citizen of Winterset, died at his home here Thursday to end a long period of failing health. He was 73 years of age.

In the summer of 1935 Mr. Clark had suffered a slight stroke which left him partially paralyzed. A second stroke came in early December, 1936, and since that time he had been bedfast.

Joel Boyd Clark was born in Webster county, on January 8, 1864, the son of Joel and Lorraine Clark. He grew to manhood on the farm but after leaving there most of his life was spent as a salesman for a nursery company.

In 1908 he was married to Mrs. Hannah E. Riatt, adopting her two sons, Vernon, aged 5, and Orval, aged 4. His devotion to his family earned for him the respect and esteem of the community.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by the two sons, Vernon Clark of Colfax and Orval Clark of Des Moines, and two granddaughters.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Tidrick funeral home in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
