Araminty DeBord, daughter of Elijah and Zerilda DeBord was born in McCain county, Illinois, on January 1, 1849 and died at her home in Winterset, Iowa on May 19, 1932, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 18 days.
At the age of five years she moved with her parents to Madison county, Iowa, where she has always resided. On October 5, 1865 she was united in marriage to William H. Doan. To this union 11 children were born, 6 of whom preceded her mother in death. The husband and father passed away on April 28, 1921.
She was reared in a Christian home and dedicated her life in youth in the Kingdom of her Lord and Christ. She united with the Union Chapel church in 1867. The family moved to Patterson, Iowa, where she immediately united with the Church of Christ and remained a faithful worker and supporter as long as the church held services. She served as a trustee in the Patterson church for many years.
Upon moving to Winterset, she united with the Church of Christ and attended as long as her health permitted.
She leaves to her family the heritage of a consecrated life. A life of love and devotion, helpfulness and comfort. Those surviving her are the five children: W. A. Doan of Patterson, Mrs. F. M. Sowash of Osceola; Mrs. P. T. Knowles of Carlisle, D. M. Doan and Mrs. C. A. Clark of Winterset. A half-sister Mrs. H. B. Cunningham of Woodville, Mississippi. Six grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and a large circle of friends, all of whom loved her in life and shall cherish her memory because of the beautiful life she has lived.
Services from Ramsey-Richards Funeral home Saturday, May 21 at 2:30. Interment in Union Chapel cemetery. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of Winterset Church of Christ.
