MORTUARY

Anna May Ballentine was born in Madison county, September 24, 1884 and passed away at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, May 17, 1932, aged 47 years, 7 months and 23 days.

She grew to womanhood at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Akin, on a farm in Madison county.

She attended high school at Hawarden. Here she was united in marriage to Antone Heubrock in 1903. To this union three children were born, Joyce Bell of Atlantic and Charley and Jesse at home.

While constructing a house at Winner, South Dakota, Mr. Heubrock met his death in a building which was destroyed by fire. May then returned to Madison county and purchased the home where she has since lived.

In 1921 she was united in marriage to Charles Ballentine. To this union two children were born Lena May and Celia Jean.

Mrs. Ballentine at the early age of 12 years was baptized and united with the Congregational church. When she came to this vicinity she transferred her membership to the North River United Brethern church. She was a true, sincere Christian, a faithful member and a diligent worker in the church and she will be missed by the church.

She leaves to mourn a husband, five children, a father and mother, four sisters, three brothers, one grandchild, other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held at the North River United Brethern church on Thursday afternoon, May 19th at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. E. A. Elliott in charge. Interment was at her old home in Hawarden.
