Fannie Melvina Kegley, the oldest daughter of William Henry and Eliza Scrivener Kegley, was born at Leseur Center, Leseur county, Minnesota, on January 20, 1879. In 1882 her parents came to Madison county to make their home, and here she spent the remainder of her life.
On April 29, 1902, she was married to Jacob A. Sandy, at Winterset, Iowa, and all her married life was lived in this city. To this union were born five children, Ralph M., Valva Opal, Zola Fern, the wife of Orrie Lowden; Russell Wayne, and Charlotte Louise, still at home.
She was preceded in death by her mother, who died in 1925, and a younger brother who died at fourteen years of age.
She is survived by her husband and five children, several brothers and sisters: Lossen Kegley, Mrs. Nellie Holsman, Mrs. Stella Hutchison, Mrs. Ethel Chappel, Loyd Kegley, all of Des Moines; Walter Kegley of St. Paul, Minnesota; Arthur Kegley of Chicago; Roy Kegley of Council Bluffs; her father, W. H. Kegley, eighty-two years of age, of Des Moines and two grandchildren William Irl and Lael Marree Lowden.
Mrs. Sandy was a kind neighbor, an unusually sympathetic friend. In her early life she affiliated with the Methodist church. Since coming to Winterset she united with the United Presbyterian church.
