Dick D. Silliman, 62, of Winterset died of cancer July 5, 1999, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset with Pastor Steve Koch officiating. Burial will be in Winterset Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today, where the family will be present from 5-8 p.m.

Dick Silliman was born Sept. 27, 1936, to Charles W. and Neola (Felton) Silliman of Peru. He married Karen Meyer on Sept. 7, 1958, in Van Meter. During his working career, Dick had been involved with farming and had been a concessionaire and restauranteur, owning and operating Rookies' Pub and Grille in Winterset. He loved hunting and also took an active part in the lives of all his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Wendy Sawyer (husband Jack) and Tami Benoit (husband Lance), both of Winterset; two sons, Todd Silliman (wife Valerie) of Spencer and Chad Silliman (wife Michelle) of Winterset; one sister, Delores Addy Haas and Barney of Perrysburg, Ohio; three brothers, Doyle Silliman and Carole of Albuquerque, N. M., Dwite Silliman and Mary Jane of Ankeny and Paul Silliman and Dolly of West Lake Village, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to a fund, which has been established in his memory, to benefit children in the local area.
