Winterset Madisonian - Wednesday, January 27, 1999

Harley Lester Oglesbee, 87, died of complications of a stroke Jan. 21, 1999, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 25, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Dwayne Henrichs officiating. Burial was at King Cemetery in Scott Township, Madison County.

Harley Oglesbee was born Sept. 5, 1911, in Madison County to Noah Warner and Rosella May (Stevens) Oglesbee. He married Regina Fortune on April 12, 1931, in Madison County. She died in 1970. He then married Eva Nichols on June 10, 1972, in Truro. A lifetime resident of Madison County, Harley was a retired refrigeration mechanic for Super Valu. He also was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Mitchellville.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife Eva of Winterset; two sons, Robert Oglesbee (wife Patricia Gilmore) of Storm Lake and Dean Oglesbee (wife Norma) of Des Moines; one daughter, Charlotte Mays of Des Moines; one stepson, Evan Nichols (wife Sally) of Des Moines; one stepdaughter, Darla Jenks (husband Richard) of Lorimor; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
