Wednesday, October 21, 1998Sunny Jessie Elizabeth Smith, 88, of Winterset died of gastrointestinal hemorrhage Oct. 18, 1998, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 - 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Collins Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 4-5 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.
Sunny Smith was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Madison County to Seth and Stella (Danforth) McCleary. She lived in Winterset for the first 16 years of her life, moved to New York City and then returned to Winterset 15 years ago. She married Charles A. Smith on May 22, 1937, in Greenwich, Conn. Sunny was a retired model and stenographer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Christian Church in Winterset.
