MRS. W. C. KRABIEL DIED HERE SUNDAY

Funeral Services Held Here Tuesday From Presbyterian Church

Mrs. W. C. Krabiel, well known Winterset resident, died here Sunday morning, Dec. 16th, after an extended illness, at the age of 64 years. She slipped away from her home early Sunday morning, and her body was found in the city park several hours later, apparently having succumbed to exhaustion and the extreme cold.

Mary L. Krabiel was born in Winterset Jan. 31, 1881, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Wintrode. Her grandfather was the late John Hutchings, the founder of the Citizens Nation Bank. She was graduated from the Winterset high school and later attended Ferry Hall, a girls' boarding school at Lake Forest, Ill. She was married to Clyde Krabiel about 40 years ago, and she and her husband have always made their home in this town.

Mary, as she was familiarly known here, has belonged to the First Presbyterian church in Winterset since she was a girl. She was also a member of the American Legion auxiliary, and took an active interest in the community projects as long as her health would permit. She belonged to several social clubs, and she will always be remembered for her love of home, her fondness for children, and for the many kindnesses she extended to her friends. Her health failed about ten years ago, and since then she had been given the best of medical care. A registered nurse has been in the home the past five years, assisting Mr. Krabiel with her care.

She is survived by her husband, W. C. Krabiel; one sister, Mrs. Ralph Thompson of Winterset, and a brother, Staff Sergeant John Wintrode of St. Petersburg, Fla. She also leaves a niece and two nephews.

The Rev. Howard Strong, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, conducted her funeral services at the church Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 18th, at two o'clock, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. Pallbearers were Arthur Goshorn, Jr., Dr. Hugh Ilgenfritz, Ed Cain, Charles Butterfield, Wm. T. Good and Ray King.
