Funeral Serives Conducted on Tuesday of Last Week for Long Time Resident
Vernie L. DeLong, long time resident of the Truro community, died at his home near Truro Aug. 12. He was 54 years of age.
Mr. DeLong was born in Clarke county on August 24, 1891, the son of T. C. and Eva DeLong. He was reared in Clarke county. He was married to Zoe Hayden on Feb. 18, 1914. They were the parents of four children, three of whom preceded the father in death.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Dodd of Truro; two grandchildren; his mother; a brother, H. B. DeLong of Truro; and three sisters, Mrs. Howard Patterson of Truro, Mrs. Carl Richthart of Orient, and Mrs. Bryce Spencer of Afton.
Funeral services were held Aug. 14, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Kessler. Burial was made in the Fields cemetery.

The sad news reached us of the sudden death of Loy DeLong of Truro Sunday. Loy was born on a farm near Prairie Grove and grew to manhood here. He was well liked and will be missed by his many relatives and friends.
