RITES FOR DR. LOOMIS
Dr. Francis W. Loomis, Jr., a longtime veterinarian in the Macksburg and Shannon City areas, died at Greater Community Hospital in Creston on Monday, September 23. He was 84 years of age.
Dr. Loomis was born at Shannon City on February 13, 1890, the son of Dr. Francis W. and Minerva Johnston Loomis. He was married to Hazel Ellen on November 28, 1919 at Omaha, Nebraska.
Dr. Loomis spent his lifetime in the Macksburg and Shannon City areas, retiring from the veterinary practice in 1934.
He was affiliated with the Methodist church.
Survivors include two daughters: Peggy Loomis of Omaha and Mrs. Barbara Ballard of Littleton, Colorado; and two grandchildren.
Dr. Loomis was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel in 1972; by his parents; and by one sister.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26 at the First United Methodist Church in Macksburg with the Rev. Willis Grant officiating. Burial was in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.
