MRS. NEVA BAKER DIED THURSDAY

Mrs. Neva M. Baker of Macksburg, a resident of Madison county for 59 years, died Thursday, Sept. 30, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 79 years of age.

Mrs. Baker was a native of Garden Grove, where she was born Dec. 7, 1891. She was a daughter of Sidney and Henrietta McPherrin Lillard.

She was married in 1912 to Ward Porter. Her second marriage, to Thomas Baker, occurred in 1927.

Mrs. Baker had served as a telephone operator at Macksburg for 24 years, prior to her retirement. She was a member of the United Methodist church at Macksburg, and was active in the Women's society for Christian Service. She was also affiliated with the Woman's Relief corps, and the Rebekah lodge.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. Ralph Eyerly of Macksburg, Mrs. Andrew Schutz of Pueblo, Colo., Glenn Porter of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and Mrs. Robert Janes of Fairbault, Minn. She also leaves 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ronald Linderman of Greenfield.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Macksburg United Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. Willis Grant. Burial was made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
