Mr. Roach was 56 years of age at his death. A son of Martin J. Roach, Sr., and Mary Cunningham Roach, he was born in Madison county Jan. 29, 1915. Most of his life was spent in the Irish settlement of Madison county, where he engaged in farming, but he had been a resident of Winterset in recent years.

Mr. Roach was married at St. Patrick's Catholic church in the Irish settlement on Feb. 9, 1936, to Margaret Williams, who survives him. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Richard L. Tibbetts of Des Moines; two sons, Martin Michael Roach of Omaha and William J. Roach of Algona; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Roach of Council Bluffs, the Rev. Father Daniel Roach of Manila, Philippine Islands, and Kieran Roach of Roundup, Mont.; and two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor L'Estrange of Prole and Mrs. Mary Drees of LaGrange, Ill.

Rosary was recited for Mr. Roach Sunday evening from Collins Funeral home by the V. Rev. Msgr. John W. Higgins, pastor of St. Joseph's church here. Funeral services were held from the church Monday, conducted by Monsignor Higgins. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.
