FUNERAL MONDAY FOR RAY SPERA

Funeral services for Ray Spera, long-time Madison county farmer, were held Monday afternoon, Oct. 11, from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

Mr. Spera died Oct. 9 at Madison County Memorial hospital. He was 77 years of age.

Raymond Eugene Spera was born July 2, 1894 at Decatur, Illinois, a son of John Clarence and Annette Drager Spera. He was married to Alma Hazel Mease on Sept. 1, 1930 at Winterset.

He was a member of the First United Methodist church of Winterset, and formerly served for many years on the official board of West Star church.

A veteran of World War I, he served 11 months in France with the 88th division. He was a past post commander of the World War I barracks at Winterset.

Mr. Spera is survived by his wife; two brothers, Will C. Spera of Tucson, Arizona and Kenneth L. Spera of Winterset. He was preceded in death by one brother, Guy C. Spera.

Officiating at the funeral Monday was the Rev. Newton Coughenour. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
