SMITH FUNERAL AT ST. CHARLES

Funeral services for Earl Russell Smith, well-known farmer in the Truro-St. Charles community, were held Sunday afternoon from the Christian church in St. Charles.

Mr. Smith died Oct. 21 at Madison County Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 71 years of age.

A son of Ed and Lillie Hickock Smith, he was born at Truro on Sept. 6, 1900. He was educated in Madison county schools, and on Nov. 28, 1928, was married to Ethel Carver.

He was a member of the Christian church at St. Charles.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Dean Smith of St. Charles, four grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Tom Foglesong of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son.

Officiating at the service Sunday afternoon were the Rev. William Andre of St. Charles, and the Rev. Tom Foglesong of Des Moines.

Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.
