George A. Stewart of Peru died last Thursday, Dec. 9, 1965, at a Des Moines hospital, at the age of 70 years.
Mr. Stewart was a native of Kansas had lived the last 25 years of his life in Madison county. He was a retired farmer, and also had worked as maintenance man for a truck line during his active years.
He was a son of Alvert and Charity Davis Stewart, and was born Feb. 22, 1895, in Norton county, Kansas. He was married at Norton in 1916 to Minnie Alvord, who survives him.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Stewart is survived by a son, David C. Stewart of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; in addition to a sister, Mrs. Melva Shafer of Sacramento, Calif. One son, Frank Arnel Stewart, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Peru Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. James Nicholson. Burial was made at Norton, Kansas.
