ADAMS PHILO STEWART

Adams Philo Stewart was born in Michigan February 6, 1848 and died at his home near Macksburg, Iowa, Dec. 12, 1925. Wen he was nine years old he came with his parents to Winterset in 1850. Two years later he moved to Grand River township. In 1875 he moved to the farm south of Macksburg on which his death occurred.

On October 7, 1875 he was married to Mrs. Eliza Lee Johnson who with their children still survives. To this union were born five children, Mrs. R. C. Graham, Macksburg, Iowa, Mrs. J. C. Beck, Pitzer, Iowa, Miss Emma Stewart, deceased, Lee Stewart, Macksburg, Mrs. W. R. Cameron, Omaha, Nebraska, also two step daughters, Mrs. J. H. Beamer, St. Charles, Iowa, Mrs. Nellie Waltman, Macksburg, fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Willis Mobly of Macksburg, Mrs. Ida Hasty of Veradale, Washington.

In 1898 he united with the M. E. church at Macksburg of which he was still a member. On Oct. 7th of this year Mr. and Mrs. Stewart celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. H. Athey at the home and interment in the Moon cemetery. "The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away, blessed be the Lord."
