John Miller, Winterset

Services for John Miller, 86, were held Mon., March 11 at First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Bauer officiating. Miller died of a stroke March 8 at Bethesda Care Center where he was a resident.

Having lived in Winterset 47 years, he was born to John Wesley and Effie Estelle (Lane) Miller on May 31, 1904 in Eldora. He married Sarah Anna Bear on August 16, 1928 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a retired soil technician for the Soil Conservation Service and was a member of First United Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Emmajean M. Goettsch and husband LaVerne of Hollister, Mo.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Burial was at Steamboat Rock Cemetery in Steamboat Rock. Memorials may be made to his church.
