OBITUARY

Georgia Alice Kenyon, daughter of Alvin B. and Sarah Kenyon, was born December 20, 1884 on a farm near Odebolt, Sac County, Iowa, and passed away January 16, 1963 in the Dexter hospital, Dexter, Iowa, at the age of 78 years, 27 days.

When a child, she moved with her parents to Ringgold County to a farm near Mt. Ayr, Iowa. After finishing her education, she taught for several years in the rural schools, later in the Primary Department of the Diagonal Public School.

On February 21, 1906 she was united in marriage to Silas R. Overholser, who passed away in 1955.

In early childhood, she became a member of the Methodist church in Lake View, Iowa. After her marriage, she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian church of Diagonal.

For thirty some years she was a co-worker with her husband in the Lord's work, until the time of his death. For many years she has been a faithful member of the Earlham Presbyterian church, from where her husband retired in 1953.

She leaves in her passing, a son, the Rev. C. Wayne Overholser, his wife, Judith of Marshalltown; two granddaughters, Mrs. David N. Cox of Iowa City, and Mrs. Duane Fredrickson of Cherokee; two great grandsons David Duane Fredrickson and Robert Hunter Cox; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Hammond of Diagonal, Iowa and Mrs. C. U. Baker of Port Orchard, Washington; one brother, Clark Kenyon of Greenville, Iowa and a host of relatives and friends.

Earlham and community will treasure the memories of the rich, full life of Mrs. Overholser, her generous helpfulness, and the modesty in which she wrapped her uncommon ability.
