Services for Donald Alvin Stever, 79, Winterset, who died Aug. 28, 1985, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Saturday, Aug. 31 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Moon Cemetery in Macksburg.
Born at Adel June 27, 1909, he was the son of Alvin and Bessie Carl Stever. Mr. Stever farmed in Madison and Adair counties and retired in 1978 and moved to Winterset in 1980. On Feb. 21, 1931, he married Madge K. Thomas at Tongonoxie, Kan. He graduated from Macksburg High School and was a member of the Macksburg Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Donald E. of Longmont, Colo., and Steve of Woodburn, Ore.; daughters, Loretta Grasty of Greenfield, Annette Chovanic of Winterset and Janice Creswell of Earlham; a step-sister, Blanche Pinckeny of Jefferson City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Smith Rowe; two step-brothers, a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
