LARRY M. STEPHENS, Lorimor

Larry M. Stephens, 66, of Lorimor died of cancer May 5, 2002, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at the World of Life Christian Center of rural Winterset with the Rev. Bruce Wangler officiating. Burial will be at Lorimor Cemetery.

Larry Stephens was born Aug. 13, 1935, to Floyd W. and Leona L. (Gavett) Stephens of Hastings. He was a 1954 graduate of Lorimor High School. On October 3, 1954, he married Patricia J. Orwan. Larry was a lifelong Lorimor area resident. He had farmed for 46 years, retiring in 2001. A United States Army veteran, he also was a member of the World of Life Christian Center and had served as a New Hope Township trustee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a sister and a granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Pat, of Lorimor; four sons, Rusty Stephens (wife Mary Beth) of Winterset, Todd Stephens (wife Dawn) and Brenden Stephens (wife Carrie), both of Urbandale, and Mark Stephens (wife Sandra) of Van Meter; two daughters, Cindy Mitchell (husband Jeff) of Thayer and Margaret Johnson (husband Randy) of Centerville; a sister, Della Hunter (husband Kenneth) of Lorimor; a brother-in-law, John Courtney of Belle Vista, Ark.; and 12 grandchildren.
