Mary Mercer, Winterset

Services for Mary Isabella Mercer, 78, Winterset, who died Oct. 17 at the Winterset Care Center North, were held Monday, Oct. 20, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. John Shaull officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born at Heltonville, Ind., on July 2, 1908, she was the daughter of Ira and Gertie Brown Sowder. She was married to Glen Mercer on June 10, 1931 at Winterset.

A housewife, she spent most of her life in Madison County and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Merle and Carl Mercer, both of Winterset; a daughter, Lillian Williams of Indianola; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
