Carol Menke, Winterset

Funeral services for (Wylma) Carol Menke, 77, were held Sat., Jan. 12 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Menke died January 10 at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.

She was born September 10, 1914 to William C. and Fredericka Augusta (Newman) Gloege in Lac Qui Parle County, Minn. and married Harold Menke March 21, 1933 coming from Dow City. A homemaker and clerical worker, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Circle, Pythian Sisters, Sunshine Garden Club, A.V.A. Club, Child Welfare Club and Winterset Art Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include her husband of Winterset; a son, Richard of Long Grove; two daughters, Joan Robinson of Redding, Calif., and Janith Harpole of Clinton, Minn.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The body was cremated with ashes to be interred at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Pythian Sisters.
