Clarence Meader, Peru

Clarence Henry Meader, 76, of Peru, died May 3, 1995 in Des Moines. Funeral services were May 9 at the Chapel of Weddle Funeral Home in Stayton, Ore. Burial was at the Fairview cemetery in Gates, Ore.

He was born May 21, 1918 in Madison county. He married Edith "Cinnamon" Stifel on Sept. 3, 1944 in Selah, Wash. He moved to Mill City in 1952 and was chief of police during the 50s and 60s. He moved to Peru in 1970 and farmed there until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Surviving relatives include his mother, Dessie Meader of Winterset; two sons, Clarence H. "Skip" Meader III and Harry "Buster" Lyle Meader, both of Gates, Ore.; three daughters, Mary Ann Johnson of St. Helens, Ore.; Karen "Emerson" Mize of Salem, Ore., and Rhonda Kimery of Lyons, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
