Mary Mays Dies at 81

Mary N. Mays, age 81, died Sunday, June 25 in the Madison County Memorial Hospital at Winterset. She had resided in Madison County for 30 years until moving to Des Moines in 1922. Mrs. Mays was born May 27, 1891 in Madison County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Clark.

She had been a practical nurse and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of which she was a Gold Star Mother. She also belonged to the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge in Des Moines.

Mrs. Mays is survived by two sons, Orville Henry of Earlham and Harold Henry of Davenport, her brother, Dale Clark of California, and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters, and a son, Edwin Henry, who was killed in World War II while serving in the Navy.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. June 28, at Collins Funeral Home, with the Rev. H. E. Borum of Winterset in charge. The burial was made at the Winterset cemetery.
