GEORGE KIRBY, The Strong Man Dead:

George Kirby has at last succumbed to the force of the stroke of death. He who has for years endured bruises and hardships, who has come through accidents and suffering that would long ago have killed the average man, has at last been overcome. The prostration brought on by his injury from the gas from an exploding stove at St. Louis, proved too much for his constitution, and on Wednesday forenoon he passed away.

The funeral services were held at the residence of his son, Joseph Kirby, yesterday, attended by the fire comany, and a large concourse of citizens. The house was packed full, and at least as many more waited outside, unable to get in. The religious services were conducted by Rev. J. M. Carmean. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Mr. Kirby has been a citizen of Winterset for a good many years. He has followed the most laborious of occupations. In all his dealing in business he has been an upright, honorable man. At the time of his death Mr. Kirby was in the fifty-second year of his age.
