JACKSON T. RHYNO

Jackson Toncray Rhyno, son of James and Elizabeth Rhyno, was born in Abington, Virginia, on Aug. 6, 1860 and passed away at his home in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 6, 1940 after a short illness.

When he was just a boy he came with his parents to Des Moines and later to a farm in South township near St. Charles. He attended college at Grinnell and Mt. Vernon. After obtaining his degree, he taught school and was the first principal of the St. Charles high school. Then he went to Cincinnati, Ohio to study law. He became one of Cincinnati's leading lawyers. Retiring from his downtown office, he was still active in his profession at his home on Cottage Hill until his death.

He was married to Ruth E. Stuart on January 7, 1899, and they were the parents of one daughter Marian Ruth. His wife passed away on Jan. 18, 1910. He later was married to Hannah West Casper of Indianapolis, Ind., on April 5, 1919.

Mr. Rhyno was active in community affairs and his church.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, his daughter, Marion Rhyno Weaver, his only grandchild, Dolly Ruth Weaver, his sister, Mrs. Louise R. Gray, of near St. Charles, two half sisters, Mrs. Nell Berry, and Miss Mercedes Rhyno of Washington, D. C., the nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held in Cincinnati, on June 8, and he was laid to rest in the lot of his choice in the cemetery near his home.

Services at the cemetery were conducted by the Masonic lodge of which he had been a member for more than 50 years.
