Clauss H. Marxen of near Macksburg died Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Community hospital in Creston. He had been ill since Jan. 12.
Mr. Marxen was 59 years of age at his death. Born at Marne, Iowa, on March 24, 1902, he had lived in Madison and Adair counties near Macksburg, since 1928.
He was married Jan. 12, 1923 at Atlantic to Lucille Willms, who survives him. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Esther Butcher of Orient; two sons, Wilbur Marxen of Lewis and Donald Marxen of Creston; nine grandchildren; seven brothers, Bill Marxen of Saskatchewan, Canada, John Marxen of Atlantic, Ted Marxen of Atlantic, Otto Marxen of Macksburg, George and Lewie Marxen of Winterset and Max Marxen of Davenport; and four sisters, Mrs. Ella Willms of Atlantic, Mrs. Mary Martino of Winterset and Mrs. Martha Kirkpatrick of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Macksburg Methodist church, with the Rev. Mr. Frank officiating. Burial was made in the Atlantic cemetery.
