Monday, April 23, 2001Edward Dean Cooper, 70, of the 1300 block of Lyndale Drive, Polk City, died of cancer Thursday at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery here.
Mr. Cooper was born in Truro and had lived in Polk City many years. He was a retired tire builder with Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. and had worked at Jester Park Golf Course and Sears Roebuck and Co. He attended First Federated Church and was a member of American Legion and United Auto Workers.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; a daughter Vickie Cooper of Kirksville, Mo.; two sons Stephen of Florence, Colo., and Jeffrey of Evansville, Wis., a stepson, Chris Lettington of Florida; a sister, Ruby Hendrickson of Winterset; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
