Ernest H. Martin, LaJunta, Colo.

Services for Ernest H. Martin, 94, a former resident of Madison County, who died Nov. 30 at La Junta Medical Center Nursing Home at La Junta, Colo., were held Monday afternoon, Dec. 6 at the Hebron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathy Bissen and the Rev. Charles Updike officiating. Burial was at Hebron Cemetery.

Mr. Martin was born at Bedford March 2, 1888, the son of Charles and Anna Gilbert Martin. He engaged in farming and spent most of his life in Adair and Madison counties, moving to La Junta in 1971.

He was married to Mattie Schulz Nov. 16, 1916 in Madison County and was a member of the Oak Grove Community Church.

Survivors include a son, Vernon Martin of Davis City and daughter-in-law, Goldie; a daughter, Rena Turrentine of La Junta, Colo., and son-in-law, Guy; a half brother, Russell Martin; and a half-sister, Ruth Varnum, both of Marshalltown; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, three brothers and a sister.
