FORMER RESIDENT OF ST CHARLES DIES

Mrs. Ada Martin, a native of St. Charles, and a long-time resident of Des Moines, died Sunday, Feb. 26 at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She was 74 years of age and had been a semi-invalid since 1958.

Mrs. Martin was the former Ada Breeding of St.Charles. She was the widow of Charles M. O'Brien, and made her home in that city for more than 40 years. Mr. O'Brien died in 1940. She moved to West Palm Beach, Fla., in 1947 and two years later was married there to Frank J. Martin who survives her.

She was a member of the Catholic church in West Palm Beach, the Railroad Brotherhood Trainmen's auxiliary, and a member of the Catholic Women's league in Des Moines since 1916.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Martin leaves a son, Capt. James O'Brien of the U. S. Air force, now stationed in Germany; a daughter, Mrs. Charlene Scott of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and two brothers, Robert A. Breeding and Walter H. Breeding of St. Charles.

Rosary services will be held this Friday night, March 3, at the Caldwell-Brien funeral home in Des Moines. The funeral mass will be conducted from the St.Ambrose cathedral in Des Moines this Saturday, March 4 at 9 a.m. with burial in Catholic Glendale cemetery.
