Son of Mrs. Ellyson Green of Winterset Dies at Age of 54
Ralph R. Green of Des Moines, son of Mrs. Ellyson Green of Winterset, died in Des Moines last Thursday at the age of 54 years. Mr. Green had not been ill, but was stricken with a heart attack while working in the yard Thursday evening.
Mr. Green was reared in Winterset, attending the public schools here, and is well remembered in this community. He was born in Weber, Kan., on Sept. 10, 1889, the son of Ellyson and Lida Bolton Green. He came to Winterset with his parents in 1903.
He was married here in 1909 to Anna Childers. They moved to Des Moines in 1910 where he worked as a carpenter. He had been connected with the Des Moines school board in that capacity for the past 21 years.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Donald, who is in the army, and stationed at Camp Hulen, Tex., and Joseph of Des Moines; one brother, Fred Green of Pawnee, Okla.; and one sister, Mrs. Phil Konkle of Cincinnati, O.
One brother, Lieut. Clarence Green of Company A., 168th Infantry regiment was killed in action on the fields of France in World War I.
Funeral services were held Monday in Des Moines, with burial in the Masonic cemetery there.
