Marquardt Burial in County

A native of Madison County, Amanda Wilhelmina Elizabeth Marquardt, born south of Van Meter in Jefferson township, died Friday, October 29, 1976, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. Her life was spent around the Van Meter community. She was born March 23, 1893.

The daughter of Louise and Wilhelmina Brase Niendorf, Mrs. Marquardt was baptized in infancy at Trinity Lutheran Church near Van Meter and remained a member of that congregation until her death.

She was married to Elmer Lienemann January 28, 1914. Her husband and their three-year-old daughter Esther were killed in a car-train accident at Van Meter in 1920 in which she was seriously injured. She married George Marquardt on August 30, 1922. He preceded her in death in 1953.

Surviving Mrs. Marquardt are two children, Walter Marquardt and Mrs. Vera Jones, both of Van Meter, five grandchildren and one brother, Herman Niendorf of rural Van Meter. Mrs. Marquardt was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services for Amanda Marquardt were conducted Monday, November 1, from Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. E. A. Brieholz officiating. Burial was made at the Triniey Lutheran Cemetery.
