JOHN MARLEY DIES AT AGE OF 94 YEARS

Death Occurs at Des Moines For Long-Time Resident of Winterset

John Marley, a resident of the Winterset community most of his life died Wednesday, Oct. 31, at a Des Moines hospital. He was 94 years of age.

Mr. Marley was born at Winterset Sept. 8, 1868, a son of Alexander and Mary Murphy Marley. With the exception of five years in California, and the last 10 years in Des Moines, his life was spent in this community. His active years were spent in farming and work as a laborer.

He was a member of the Baptist church.

Mr. Marley was married Oct. 1897 at Winterset, to Cora McDole. They were parents of four children, one son dying in infancy.

Surviving are his wife of Des Moines; a son, Tom Marley of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Dyke Fick of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Blanche Fox of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. Donald Callison of Indianola. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
