Ronald C. Mack, Truro

Funeral services for Ronald C. Mack, 88, were held Tues. Dec. 18 at Congregational Church of Christ, Truro, with Pastor James Patrick officiating. Mack died of a respiratory ailment Decmeber 14 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

A lifelong Truro resident, he was born to Carl and Anna (Cooley) Mack November 15, 1902. He married Grace Roby September 23, 1923. He was a farmer and a member of the Congregational Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, in September; his parents; and a son, Gene.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Dottie Mack of Borger, Tex., two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Burial was at Young Cemetery in Truro.

Ronald C. Mack, Truro resident, died Friday

Funeral services were conducted at the Congregational Church of Christ, Truro, Tuesday, Dec. 18, 1990 for Ronald Cooley Mack, lifelong Truro area resident, who died Friday, Dec. 14 at the Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.

Pastor Jim Patrick, Indianola, officiated and burial was in Young Cemetery, Truro. Kale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mack, a professional baseball player in his youth, once played in an exhibition game with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. He was well-known for the Hereford cattle he raised. An active booster of the Truro Library, he was also interested in the development of the Living History Farm in Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Mack purchased the first team of oxen for the Living History Farm.

The son of Carl and Anna Cooley Mack, he was born at Truro, Nov. 15, 1902. He attended Truro schools and Sept. 23, 1920 married Grace Marie Roby at Chariton. Grace, and the couple’s son, Gene, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Dotty Mack of Borger, Texas; two grandchildren, Vickie Jeanne Hageman and her husband, Dale of Moore, Okla., Teressa Lynn Sandlin and her husband, Wilbur, of Lake Jackson, Texas; four great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
