Wednesday, June 6, 1917Death of W. M. STILES
W. M. Stiles died at Mercy hospital in Des Moines on Wednesday morning of last week, after an illness of only a few days with pleura-pneumonia. Funeral services were held at the Patterson Methodist church on Friday afternoon, and burial was made at Blair Chapel, near the old Captain Stiles homestead on Brush Ridge.
The deceased moved to Kansas City some years ago to follow his trade, that of carpenter and building contractor. During the winter he contracted a cold, which resulted in his final illness.
He was in Patterson just a short time ago and the announcement of his death was a decided shock to his family and friends. "Bid", as he was best known to his friends, was a man of splendid parts, kind-hearted, genial in disposition and well liked by everybody.
