Wednesday, December 20, 19449-YEAR OLD GIRL DIED ON SUNDAY
Phillis Jean Tucker Had Lost Father In War Last August
The sorrow of death was visited again upon the home of Mrs. Eurain Tucker of Winterset Sunday, when her 9-year-old daughter, Phillis Jean, died after a short illness, just four months after the husband and father was killed in action in the southwest Pacific while serving with the U.S. navy.
The little girl had been ill about a week. Gradually growing worse she was taken to the Bates Emergency hospital in Indianola Sunday, and died shortly after arriving there. Exact nature of her illness was not determined.
The child was born at Ottumwa on Sept. 4, 1935, the daughter of Ted R. and Eurain Tucker. She came with her parents to Winterset about four years ago, and this had since been her home.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a younger sister, Janet, aged 6.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Seventh Day Adventist church in Winterset, in charge of Elder Smith. Burial was made in the Elm Grove cemetery at Washington, Ia.
